I had the honour of being nominated by my school as the grade representative for another Student Outreach Meeting on Friday, April 19, 2024. Student Outreach Meetings are where leaders from across York Region meet to discuss matters that impact students at the board level. Through critical engagement in groups, we discussed how to safely address vaping in high schools, and the impacts of bystander culture, to name a few things. Engaging with leaders from other schools has been an empowering experience that gives me the confidence to enact change in my school community through my Student Council. I also greatly appreciated the opportunity to expand my network with leaders from across York Region.
