On March 22, 2024, the Newmarket High School Debate Team engaged in a debate collaboration with Dr. G. W. Williams Secondary School. As the president of NHS Debate, I sought out this interschool opportunity to promote a culture of meaningful engagement within York Region.
I reached out to the presidents of the Dr. G. W. Williams Debate Team and together we finalized date, location, and additional details to gather our schools together so we could debate in British Parliamentary Format. Personally, I also gained some understanding about the logistics behind school field trips, including transportation.
It was an incredible, explorative experience, and I think it has opened the doors to more collaboration in the future, even beyond our Debate Team.
