The Central York Leadership Group (CYLG) hosted its Set for Success: High School and Beyond Event on November 15, 2024 This brand new Networking Seminar was envisioned for high school students to learn more about how they can start and continue to make an impact through volunteering, high school extracurriculars, and post-secondary education! As the Co-President of the CYLG and an MC for this event, I was pleased to see it through conceptualization, planning, and execution. We invited Erin Cerenzia & Amanda Hardman from Neighborhood Network; Mary Perin, a guidance councilor at Newmarket High School; Kevin Qu, an Engineering Student at the University of Toronto and the founder of our non-profit when it was called the “Newmarket Youth Leadership Group”; and a panel of five grade 12 students including myself to share our journeys and advice for younger students. The event was a huge success and left many youth with a sense of professional purpose and the opportunity to network and get involved.
